Q4:It is clear that the compensation for use of national land is five percent (5%) of the government assessed land value. Will there be punishment for overdue payment?

A4:     Citizens have no right to use of national land. According to Article 179 of the Civil Code, occupants must return the undue enrichment gained from the use of national land. That is, occupants must pay a compensation for use at five percent (5%) of the annual interest on the declared land value of national land. Occupants failing to make the payment in time must pay an interest for overdue payment charging from the due date until the actual date of payment according to Paragraph 1, Article 229, Civil Code.
